Town/ Link greenery10Greenery in a city is an importantelement of the environment.Linkage from greenery within a site tothe greenery beyond it, and on to planargreenery, builds refreshing urbanscenery and realizes comfortable livingenvironments.With the passage of time, the urbanenvironment itself nurtures greenery.Joining together city-center greeneryI-Garden AirJust as human bodies are maintained by the interlinked flow of blood, the urbanenvironment is maintained by linkages of green space and water. The large expansesof green land and water left in city centers are the lungs of cities, and fresh aircirculates along tree-lined avenues and rivers.The main theme for I Garden Air, a district developed on the site of the Iidamachifreight station, was to make the new green space of the development into an axislinking the green masses of the nearby Imperial Palace and Koishikawa Korakuen. Weaimed to make this axis a life maintenance zone incorporating the whole urban area,including the city center surroundings.This attitude to uniting nearby green areas was shared from an early stage withlocal people, government and businesses as a common development principle, and itguided all those involved in the same direction, bringing together design concepts forplanning, construction and landscaping. As a result, the streets have a unified setbackto the building walls, creating a tree-lined pedestrian avenue that extends for 300m.The adjacent Nihombashi river has a sakura avenue, footpaths and pedestrianbridges linking views of the Uchibori and Sotobori moats. That network of greenery andwater is spreading as the starting point for a new district. This expansive grand design,which could never be self sufficient within the scope of the development zone itself,still maintains good relations between local people and businesses after the completionof construction, and nurtures forward-looking urban development efforts, such as localfestivals and voluntary street cleaning campaigns.Tatsuya Hiraga都心の緑をつなげてゆくアイガーデンエア人間の身体が血液のつながりによって維持されているように、都市の環境も緑や水のつながりによって維持されています。都心部に残存する大きな緑地や水面は都市の肺臓であり、並木や河川を通じて新鮮な空気が循環されます。飯田町貨物駅跡地に開発された街“アイガーデンエア”の街づくりは、周辺に点在する皇居や小石川後楽園の「まとまった緑」を、アイガーデンエアの「新たな緑」の軸でつなげてゆくことが重要なテーマです。この軸が、周辺市街地を含めた街全体の生命維持ゾーンとなることを目指しています。周辺に点在する緑を「つなげていく」という姿勢は、地域住民・行政・事業者の間で共有され、計画・建築・ランドスケープの設計思想を束ね、関係者全員をひとつの方向へと導く強い牽引力となりました。その結果、建物の壁面を統一してセットバックした街並みの中に、３００ｍにも及ぶ歩行者専用の並木道が誕生しました。隣接する日本橋川には、内掘と外堀の景観をつなぐ桜並木の遊歩道と人道橋も整備され、緑と水のネットワークが新たな街を起点に広がりつつあります。ここ「アイガーデンエア」では、竣工後も、開発区域内で完結することのないスケールの大きなグランドデザインの実現に向けて、地域住民と事業者との良好な関係は継続しており、お祭りや清掃ボランティアなどの共同開催によって、未来を見据えた街づくりに取り組んでいます。平賀達也都市の中での「緑」は、大切な環境要素です。敷地の中の緑から、敷地を越えた繋がる緑へ、そして、面的な緑へと広げていくことで、清々しい都市景観を創ると共に、快適な生活環境を実現します。時とともに、街も緑も育っていきます。まち/緑をつなぐかつての平川河川敷に沿ったアイガーデンエアの「新たな緑」が、皇居と小石川後楽園のまとまった緑をつなぐ。The new greenery of I-Garden Airconnects to the large bodies of greenland in the Imperial Palace andKoishikawa Koraku-en.環境親話2006まちから建築へ　日建設計―FACT－NIKKEN SEKKEI
