The richness of the materials is what brings the design down to human scale.「まち並みの心」を創造する 本プロジェクトのエッセンスは、建物一つひとつのつくり方、ディテールをおざなりにしないことにあります。まち並みの魅力をつくっているのは個々のファサードです。各都市での調査によって実際の石造り、煉瓦造り、漆喰塗りの建物のスケールや装飾を読み解き、細心の注意を払いながら、「まち並みの心」の創造を目指しています。また、この建築群の中には、堂々とした記念碑的なものもあれば「町屋」として控えめに建つものもありますが、実際のまち並みがそうであるように、建物のデザインはすべて異なり、同じものの繰り返しはありません。歴史的なまち並みの美しさを現代に再創造しながら、日々の活動をより豊かにしてくれる「懐かしさ」をもった建築群を形づくっていきます。Creating the Spirit of a Townscape The essence of this project is unstinting care with the design of each and every building and detail. It is the individual facades that contribute to the charm of a townscape. Each original city was closely studied, observing the specific masonry, tiling, and stucco work, and analyzing the decoration and scale of the buildings, as we aimed for re-creation of the “spirit” of that particular townscape, giving attention to every detail. Within each cluster of buildings there are bold and monumental structures as well as modest townhouses, and just as in an actual townscape, the designs of all of the buildings differ with none repeating the look of any other.
