展示室1Gallery 1機械室Machine room地下駐車場Parking展示室ロビーLobbyアート工房Workshop space創作スペースCreative spaceスタジオ1Studio 1WCWC屋内ステージIndoor stage交流ロビー｜Lobby エントランスホールEntrance hallテラスTerrace屋外ステージOutdoor stageB1FL1FL2FL3FL最高高さHeighest point of roofM1FLSPOTLIGHTA Center for Exchange that Reflects the Passage of TimeKen Kodama / Tsutomu Kondo / Takahiro Oka | Architectural Design Department, Nikken Sekkei時の流れをまとうパブリックスペース児玉 謙・近藤 努・岡 隆裕｜日建設計 設計部門木立の中に柔らかなボリュームが見え隠れし、行きかう列車の車窓からも、ふと目にとまるランドマークとなることを目指しました。　　新居浜市発展の礎となった「あかがね（銅）」は、古来すぐれた建築材料でもあり、その豊かな表情を活かしてこのランドマークの素材に選びました。施工直後は金色に輝いていましたが、あえて表面処理をしていないため、これから周辺環境を映しとりながら色合いや風合いを変え、時の流れをまとってゆくことを楽しみにしています。　─建物の外観は3つのボリュームと駅前に開かれた芝生広場で構成しています。周囲から少し持ち上げたメインフロアには、敷地の四隅の交差点から緩やかにアプローチでき、また反対側に通り抜けできるようになっていることがその外観からも見てとれるようにしました。上階に多目的のギャラリー、下階に小劇場を備え、メインフロアには新居浜の歴史文化とアートを発信するスペースを配し、これら3つのフロアは中央の吹き抜けで緩やかにつながっています。この建物には明確な表裏はなく、いつでもどちらの方角からでも気軽に立ち寄っていただける新しいパブリックスペースのあり方を提案しています。─「あかがねミュージアム（新居浜市総合文化施設・美術館）」とはなにか。それはこれからのアクティビティが答えを出してくれることでしょう。ギャラリーや収蔵施設は国内外の展覧会にも活用できるスペックをもち、小劇場は多彩な舞台芸術も可能な設備を備えるほか、座席を収納して平土間に変換することも可能です。これらが組み合わされている施設は、あまり例がないのではないでしょうか。設計にあたっては、各施設が独立して使えるように配慮しつつ、その融合や相互作用も期待できるようにしました。屋内外すべての空間が展示空間であり、パフォーマンスのためのステージであり、相互の交流の場と考えています。　この建物は、新居浜を訪れる人にとって、この街の歴史や文化に触れ、ここから市内外の史跡や産業遺産を訪れるための道しるべとなることでしょう。また市民の方々にとっては、日常の生活空間の延長として気軽に立ち寄れる、わが街の文化を再発見する場であり、さまざまなアートとの出会いの場となることを願っています。We wanted to create a landmark, whose rounded forms would be recognizable in the distance among the trees, even to someone looking out the window of a passing train. Copper (akagane), a superior building material from ancient times, was the foundation of Niihama’s development and prosperity, and we selected this material for the exterior of our landmark building for its expressiveness. At first completion, the building shone bright gold, but intentionally no surface treatment was applied, and we look forward to the gradual changing of its color and texture with the passage of time.─The building is composed of three large curvilinear forms standing on a grassy plaza facing the train station. The first floor, raised slightly from the surrounding land, is easily accessible via gentle slopes from street intersections at the four corners of the site, and the building exterior makes it clear to the visitor that it is possible to walk through to the other side. Its three floors are connected by the central atrium, with a multi-purpose gallery located on the upper floor, the small theater on the lower floor, and spaces for Niihama’s cultural history and art on the main floor. In an effort to propose a new type of building for public spaces, there is no clear front or back. This design is intended to encourage people to casually drop in from whatever direction they choose. ─The Akagane Museum is a multipurpose cultural facility and its activities speak for themselves. Its galleries and storage facilities are designed to specifications that enable domestic and international exhibitions. The small theater is equipped with stage facilities that allow it to host a variety of performing arts. In addition, the seats can be stowed so as to create an open floor. Not many theaters are equipped with all these features. The building was designed so that each facility can be used separately, but much thought was also given to the relationships and interaction among the facilities. In our design, we treated all the spaces inside and outside the building as exhibit spaces, stages for performances, and interactive spaces for cultural exchange. For out-of-town visitors, we believe that the museum will serve as a lodestone, where they can get a glimpse of the city’s history and culture, and from which they can discover the historical sites and industrial heritage of the city and its environs. For residents, we hope the museum will become a regular gathering place in the community, where people drop by casually in their daily routine and where they can rediscover the town’s culture and experience various art forms.断面図｜Section, scale 1:600102016 Spring 26
