SPOTLIGHT12ガラスの面が織りなす個と全体｜小林博人銀座街づくり会議アドバイザー／慶應義塾大学 大学院政策・メディア研究科 教授／小林・槇デザインワークショップ［KMDW］代表Facets of Glass Weave Together Parts and Whole | Hiroto KobayashiGinza Machizukuri Council Advisor; Professor, Keio University Graduate School of Media and Governance; and Principal, Kobayashi Maki Design Workshop (KMDW)建物を見てOutside Comment銀座の街は、路面店の一つひとつが輝きを見せる光の粒子の集合体のようである。各個店は個性を主張しつつ、それでいてそれらが軒を連ねる通り空間には、その通り特有の雰囲気が醸し出される。個店が集まり個性ある通りを形成し、それが銀座という街のイメージの全体像をつくり出しているのである。そして、その全体のイメージが、それぞれの個を引き立たせるという構造を銀座は有している。　「東急プラザ銀座」が光を集め、拡散する光の器であるとき、そのファサードには、銀座が有する個性が織りなす銀座のイメージが投影されることになる。この建物の幾重にも折り重ねられたファサードのガラス面は、銀座の街における個店のように個性的な輝きを放ち、そしてそれらが集まって建物全体のイメージを形成するという、まさに銀座そのものの縮図となっている。銀座が人の集まる街である最大の理由は、そこに個と全体の絶妙な関係があるからに違いない。　銀座の街がそうであるように、その光と器に魅きつけられ、この建物にもまた多くの人の行き交う姿が見られることを期待したい。The streets of Ginza are like clusters of glowing lights emanating from individual storefronts. Each store asserts its identity and the ferment of the shop identities along a street produces its distinctive atmosphere. The image of Ginza as a whole is one of clusters of individual stores that form distinctive townscapes. What makes Ginza special is a structure in which the image of the whole brings out the individuality of the parts. As a vessel that collects and refracts light, Tokyu Plaza Ginza’s facade reflects the entire fabric of Ginza woven together from the stores and streets. The building’s creased layers of glass surfaces sparkle with a distinctive glow, just as do the unique individual stores along the streets, together creating the overall building facade that mirrors the structure of the Ginza townscape itself. Perhaps the reason that people gravitate and gather in Ginza is this rare relationship between the parts and the whole. Just as with Ginza itself, I hope that this “vessel of light“ becomes an attraction in its own right, and a place to which people will gravitate.102016 Autumn 28
