Taking careful advantage of the significant difference in level across the site, placing the building services underground and consolidating the build program into twin high-rise towers, the project becomes a role model for such urban developments, providing expansive public space at ground level. In addition to the office and hotel tower and the rental apartment tower, the original Akasaka Hotel (built 1930), a designated Metropolitan Tokyo cultural asset and the former residence of last head of the Korean imperial house, Yi Un (1897–1970), has been preserved, restored and given new life as the Akasaka Prince Classic House.Feature | Annual 2016082016 Winter 29WORKS
