Station-Centered Transportation Infrastructure To position the Vladivostok Railway Station as the hub for new transit-oriented development, we proposed a townscape that respects the historic and cultural value of the existing station building and surrounding townscape, while adding value to further enhance the dignity and aesthetic of Vladivostok as Russia’s east-ern economic center. From Port Facility to People’s WaterfrontThe once off-limits port district along Golden Horn Bay will be transformed from a brownfield site into a welcoming waterfront for the public. This is done by introducing an uninterrupted pedestrian network that stretches all the way to the old town district. The new open spaces along the waterfront will become a place for public recreation and relaxation.Vladivostok’s Distinctive LandscapeTo honor Vladivostok’s history as a military city, which is still a source of pride for local citizens, we preserved the warship on the waterfront, and proposed urban spaces that inherit and enhance the historic townscape.342018 SUMMER35Feature | WORKS
