駅とまちの一体的な活性化駅周辺街区は、服飾の小規模卸業を中心に発展してきた経緯から、生活と商業の機能が高密度に集中しており、駅改造とともに、「広州の中央駅」にふさわしい周辺街区の再開発が求められていました。小規模卸業の集積から、どのように産業構造改革を促すか、広州の共同設計者とともに、問題意識を共有したうえで課題点を抽出し、経験豊かな日本国内類似例とも比較検討して提案を行っていきました。　駅周辺の既存産業をアップグレードさせ、一体的な発展を牽引する起爆剤として、「貿易流通センター」や「デザインセンター」等の産業育成施設を駅周辺に配置しました。また、権利関係が複雑な敷地で、産業を含めた街区の機能更新を段階的に行えるよう、まちづくりガイドラインを設け誘導する仕組みをつくりました。Invigorating Station and City TogetherDense with everyday and commercial functions, the areas around the train station have historically been filled with small garment wholesale shops. Alongside the station ren-ovation, the client sought redevelopment to elevate the area as befits the “grand central station” of Guangzhou. Working with a local design partner to identify the issues for stim-ulating industrial restructuring by tapping into a group of small wholesalers, we introduced comparative studies of similar projects in Japan from our broad experience. Facilities for industry development, such as trade and design centers, were incorporated to improve existing indus-try businesses around the station and to trigger general development.
