北工区｜North Construction Area南工区｜South Construction Area中曲輪・城前庭ゾーン商業にぎわい・活用ゾーン外曲輪・おもてなしゾーン北工区の整備イメージImage for north construction area improvement「人間のための街路」の実現Realization of“Streets for People”姫路市大手前通り（南工区）再整備事業 Otemae Promenade Renovation Project (South Construction Area) for Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture 全体計画｜Plan02050100m市民花壇とベンチがあるポケットパーク自転車通行空間とポケットパークを分離人々が行き交う商業にぎわい・活用ゾーン姫路市産の杉材を使用したウッドデッキ建築主 ： 姫路市建設局街路建設課デザインアドバイザー ： 南雲勝志、小野寺康所在地 : 兵庫県姫路市計画エリア ： 34,250m2（幅員50m、延長685m／うち南工区400m）Client : Road and Street Construction Division, Construction Bureau, Himeji CityDesign advisor : Katsushi Nagumo and Yasushi OnoderaLocation : Himeji, Hyogo Pref.Project area: 34,250m2 (road width 50m, length 685m / south construction area: approx. 400 m)大手前通りは、JR姫路駅と世界遺産・姫路城を結ぶ幅員50m、延長約700mの姫路の顔となるシンボルロードです。日建設計シビルでは、すでに竣工している姫路駅北駅前広場に引き続き、大手前通りについても基本計画から基本設計、実施設計と一貫して業務に携わり、加えて、合意形成・社会実験の実施を行いました。　本プロジェクトでは、姫路市・地元関係者・学識経験者・警察・設計者などで構成する大手前通り再整備検討懇話会にて決定した「歩いて楽しい大好きなお城へのみち」というコンセプトに基づき、「自動車中心の道路」を「人間のための街路」にリノベーションしていくことを試みています。オープンカフェなどの利活用のために設けた自然木材を使用した国内最大の道路上ウッドデッキ、姫路市産杉材を使用したベンチ、また、市民が手入れを行う市民花壇などの整備は、道路でありながら「人が休憩すること、社会活動を行うこと」を前提に設計した、国内の数少ない先進事例です。　今年度、国道2号以南の南工区が竣工しましたが、来年以降、姫路城の世界遺産コアゾーンに位置する北工区が着工し、2020年に全延長が竣工予定です。Himeji’s Otemae-dori is a 50-meter-wide, 700-meter-long avenue connecting the JR Himeji Station to the city’s famed “White Heron” castle, a designated World Heritage site. Continuing from its work on the station’s already completed North Station Plaza, Nikken Sekkei Civil Engineering (NSC) was involved with the Otemae Avenue project through basic planning to basic design as well as through the design execution phase. In addition, NSC was also engaged in consensus building and the con-ducting of social experiments. The concept for the Promenade, devel-oped by a study group composed of local and municipal stakeholders, the police, designers, and experts, is: “an enjoyable street to make walking to the castle a pleasure.” We shifted the emphasis from “streets for vehicles” to “streets for people.” Various amenities ̶benches made from locally grown cedar, a natural wood deck for various uses including an open-air cafe (the largest street-side deck in the country using wood), and flower beds to be maintained by local volunteers̶make it a place for relaxation as well as social activity, a pioneering example in Japan. In FY 2018 the south construction area south of National Route 2 was completed, and work on the north construction area located within the core area of Himeji Castle will begin, planned for completion in 2020.NSC342018 WINTER37Annual 2018 | WORKS
