レギュラトリーサイエンスのための3層プランの研究所Three-layered Plan for a Regulatory Science Research Institute国立医薬品食品衛生研究所 National Institute of Health Sciences国立医薬品食品衛生研究所では、医薬品や食品および生活環境中に存在する化学物質について、その有効性や安全性を評価する研究を行います。科学技術の進歩で生み出されたものが真に国民の利益にかなうよう調整することが使命で、このような役割はレギュラトリーサイエンスと呼ばれます。研究内容は生命科学や化学の広い範囲に及び、施設には質量分析器やNMRのような高度な装置が多数設置され、動物実験施設や厳密な生物学的安全性確保が必要なさまざまなバイオセーフティレベルの実験室も備えています。 建物構成は、室レイアウトに関する多様で複雑な要求を、居室／標準実験室／特殊実験室の3層構造にまとめた明快なプランです。National Institute of Health Sciences (NIHS) studies and evaluates the effectiveness and safety of drugs, food products, and the chemical substances in our living environment. Its mission ̶what is called regulatory science̶is to monitor and adjust the results of advancements in science and technol-ogy for the true benefit of citizens. The institute’s research reaches across the spectrum from life sciences to chemis-try, and its facilities house a mass spec-trometer, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscope, and other high-precision equipment, as well as animal exper-iment facilities and laboratories that operate at various biosafety levels to assure biological safety.
