Using a program developed by Nikken Sekkei Digital Design Lab, we analyzed the results to locate labs so as to minimize the over-all distance covered. Windows facing the light court provide views of the changing light and vegetation through the course of the users’ day. The brick screen around the court protects the privacy of neighbors. Stairways, elevators, and restrooms were placed adjacent to the windows, affording researchers, who tend to be bound indoors, a pleasant level of contact with nature as they move through the building.
