This question was behind the design of the new Head Office building of Mitsui and Co. as a place of quality expe-rience where new initiatives and creativity come into being through the accidental encounter of diverse individuals and the nurture of spontaneous collaboration. The building as a whole was planned as a “vertical campus.” The executive floor, office floors, infirmary and other services floor, employee and guest dining room floor, and other facilities are stacked verti-cally in a way that strengthens and encour-ages internal and external collaboration and incorporates diverse activities. We provided spaces incorporating various innovations to generate new value, where individual employees can independently choose the most appropriate working style and work-space to suit their needs or to head out of the office for on-site tasks.182020 AUTUMN44Feature | WORKS
