木材活用をより身近に、幅広く「つな木」は一切の加工や仕口を設けない一般流通木材により組み立て・解体・移設が容易にできる木質ユニットです。45mm角や105mm角などの木材と、クランプと呼ばれる接合部材から成り立ち、基本ユニットを30分程度で「全国 どこでも 誰でも」簡単に組み立てることができます。また同じ部材を使って、ベンチやプランタ、カフェやショップ、オフィスへと自在に形と用途を変更できるため、保管スペースや運搬費を最小化できる点が特徴です。現在、一般流通材の規格サイズに合わせた木材専用のクランプを開発中で、より軽く安全性に配慮した形を検討しています。　2020年夏、木材活用を推進する徳島県の協力により、徳島県庁のオフィスに「つな木」デスクを設置し、木質ワークプレイスの試行が始まりました。また、新型コロナウイルス情勢における初期対応として、「つな木」による臨時の仮設医療ブースを計画しており、2020年秋に足利赤十字病院においてトライアルを実施予定です。　中長期的には住空間の機能分節やオフィス空間のリモート対応、公共空間における屋外会議スペースなど、森林資源の循環と都市更新、地方創生を両立する次代の社会インフラとして普及を目指します。Toward More Widespread, Intimate Uses of WoodTsunagi wood units are made of widely available timber and require no milling or joinery; they can be easily assem-bled, dismantled, and transported. They consist of pieces in the size range of 45 mm x 45 mm and 105 mm x 105 mm, along with joint component clamps. Assembly is simple, and takes around 30 minutes. The units can be freely arranged, as benches or planters, for cafe tables or shop stalls, even as office groupings. A key feature is minimal storage and trans-portation costs. Clamps are being developed specifically for use with commonly available standard-sized lumber, which will allow for safe yet lighter-weight units. In summer 2020, Tokushima Prefecture, which promotes the use of wood, cooperated with the installation of a trial grouping of Tsunagi desks in its prefectural office. As an initial response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Tsunagi units will also be tried out as provisional medical stations at the Japanese Red Cross Ashikaga Hospital in autumn 2020. In the mid- to long term, we will continue to promote the circulation of forest resources with urban renewal and regional revitalization in next-generation social infrastruc-ture.
