熊本の陸の玄関口である熊本駅前に計画された、ホテルと商業からなる複合施設です。高さ30mの石壁がそびえ立つ7層吹き抜けの屋内空間には、日本に自生する数十種の植物がいきいきと生い茂り、その中を南小国の鍋ヶ滝をモチーフとした高さ10m・幅10mの滝が音を立てて流れ落ちています。先駆的なデジタルシミュレーションを用いた光、緑、音、温湿度の検証によって、このバイオフィリックデザインが実現しました。ここには、熊本の自然や魅力を感じられる体験があります。This mixed-use facility located in front of Kumamoto Station, Kumamoto Prefecture’s gateway by land, consists of a hotel and shops. Dozens of native Japanese plant species flourish in the indoor space of the seven-story atrium, with its towering 30-meter-high stone walls. The lively sound of a waterfall 10 meters high and 10 meters wide inspired by Nabegataki Falls, land-mark of the nearby town of Minamioguni, reverberates through the atrium. This biophilic design was achieved through validation of digitally simulated light, sound, greenery, and temperature/humid-ity conditions.
