Takebashi Office Opens as an Experiment for Next Generation Workplace and Dissemination of Information

Nikken Sekkei Co., Ltd., opened a satellite office of its Tokyo headquarters, the “Takebashi Office,” on the 8th floor of the Palaceside Bldg. Undertaking an experiment in next generation workplace and the dissemination of information, the goal is to create new value.

Serving as the office space for 150 workers with different areas of expertise, it will also be a touchdown office for Nikken Group employees. The office entrance, a collaboration space titled, Knowledge Garden 809, functions as a gallery, café and event hall. Starting with the “Nikken Forum” dating back 30+ years, plans call for numerous exchanges, events, and collaborative research going forward.

Features of the office space include a biophilic design with plants and daylight from the natural elements, activity-based work (ABW), free address, beacon sensors, entry systems, new ways of working, and IoT technology. The experience and know how gained will help to propose better architectural and office space designs.

Palaceside Bldg. (Tokyo – 1966 completion) An office building that the predecessor to Nikken Sekkei, Nikken Sekkei Construction, Co., designed. Total floor space of 120,000 meters, total building length of 200 meters east to west. It became the prototype for large-scale multipurpose buildings. Characteristics include its variable design for a long lifespan and attention to details particular to Japanese style.
