The building was situated with the aim ofleaving all of the existing trees standing in the site and using theborrowed scenery of that foliage to create a rich interior environment. The T-shaped building layout conforms to the topography of the site.To minimize excavations, the height difference within the sitewas exploited, so that the accommodation block has five floors on thewest side and three above ground level on the east. The roofs of the training block and the lecture theater, seenwhen looking down from the rooms of the accommodation block, have rooftop planting to landscape them and reduce the thermalloads radiated directly from them.Makoto WakabayashiAs an environment-themed corporate training facility, it employs a range of environmental techniques, including a layoutplan that conserves the original topography and vegetation, roof planting, double skins and thermal tunnels.2006 FACTNIKKEN SEKKEI
