演劇中心の８００席の中ホール。壁は地元兵庫産の杉のムク材を使用。The 800-seat medium hall is mainly for theater. Thewalls are paneled in locally-produced Hyogo cedar.トップライト、中庭、テラスを設けて自然光を取り入れたホワイエ。建物の素材は、木、レンガ、コンクリート、ガラスに限定。The foyer catches natural light through the toplights, courtyard and piazza. Building materials are limited to wood, brick, concrete and glass.２０００席の大ホール。赤い色を表現するため、マホガニーのムク材にクリア塗装のみを施す。The 2,000-seat Grand Hall. The mahogany paneling has only clear varnish, so that its redcoloring is clearly expressed.「芸術文化センター」のオープン兵庫県立芸術文化センター芸術監督佐渡裕いまから11年前の1995年１月、あの阪神・淡路大震災が起こりました。多くの方が亡くなられ、街も大きな被害を受けました。しかし、あの震災から、手をつなぎ、助け合い、そして悲しみの中から心のきずなを学びました。その兵庫県だからこそ、もっと強く、やさしい街をつくれるのではないか、芸術を通して、文化を通して、まちづくりの力になれるのではと考えて、兵庫県立芸術文化センターの芸術監督をつとめることにしました。2005年10月、その芸術文化センターがいよいよオープンし、また兵庫芸術文化センター管弦楽団も誕生しました。これからは、私がこのすばらしい劇場ですばらしい音楽を提供し、オーケストラと観客が一体になる瞬間を作っていきたいと思います。（NIKKEN SEKEI Quarterly 2005 Winterより抜粋）The opening of the Hyogo Performing Arts CenterYutaka SadoArtistic Director of the Hyogo Performing Arts CenterThe Great Hanshin Earthquake occurred in January1995, 11 years ago.
