木造の入所棟では、生活の中心にサテライトキッチンを置き、食事の匂いと木の香りが家らしさを醸し出す。In the wooden residential buildings the satellite kitchen is placed in the center of daily life, andthe scents of food and wood build a home-like atmosphere.入所棟は、生活の場として、県産の杉と檜を活用した木造。The residential block, is constructed from wood befitting a place tolive in, using cedars and cypresses grown in the prefecture.職員食堂の暖炉に、センター長が薪をくべながら子どもたちに語りかける場面は、温かなコミュニケーションと日頃見慣れない火に対する畏敬の念を引き出してくれる。The scene of the center manager chatting to the children has heputs logs in the stove in the staff canteen brings a feeling of awe atthe warm communication and the unaccustomed sight of fire.子どもたちの生活空間を木でつくる熊本県立子ども総合療育センター肢体不自由児および知的障害児の施設です。外来、通園、訓練などの建物は、生活の場と明確に区別するために、鉄筋コンクリート造とし、入所棟は、生活に相応しい場とするため、これに対比して県産材の杉と檜を活用した木材としました。ユニットケアの導入で、入所棟は分棟になっています。それぞれの生活の中心にはサテライトキッチンが設けられており、食事の匂いと木の香りが、家らしさを演出しています。日々、子どもたちに触れられる木の床や柱は、時間とともに傷がつき、子どもたちの成長と時間の流れを刻んでいきます。近藤彰宏Children’s living areas are made of woodRehabilitation Center For Children DisabiltIies Kumamoto PrefectureThis is a facility for children suffering from physical andmental handicaps. Buildings for outpatients, outside students,training and other applications are made of steel-reinforcedconcrete while the buildings for residents are made of timber,using cedar and cypress trees grown in the prefecture, tocontrast with the concrete buildings and make them a suitableplace to live in. With the introduction of unit care, the residential blocks havebeen divided into individual units. Each has a satellite kitchen as thecenter of daily life.
