MAIN TECHNICAL DATASite AreaMumbai is commonly perceived as an “island city”. This has contributed to a strong sense of community and the creative use of outdoor spaces. The Sarova project is located in Kandivali, a suburb approximately 20 kilometres north of the Bandra Kurla city centre and adjacent to a planned metro station. Its genesis stems from a client’s observation that most of the community-oriented public spaces were in the city’s older southern district, leaving the north with none. Nikken Sekkei brought its large-scale, high-density redevelopment experience to bear on this 20-hectare project site. The mission: to deliver a fully functional residential complex with diverse options and a human-scale, non-gated public realm that would create benchmark, interconnected urban communities in North Mumbai.Built-up AreaThis effort included pedestrian-friendly streets and sidewalks, more specialty retail venues, updated hospitality, robust cultural and civic spaces, and the forging of “sustainability, diversity, and sensitivity” pillars that prioritise people, the environment, and cultural values. In its entirety, the development presents four unique zones, each of which reflects a functional character of the project, all tied together by a Central Avenue to enable synergies and easy facility access. From luxury to comfort class, The Gateway, Downtown, Park Residence, and Landmark offer multiple residential living choices to accommodate residents’ diverse, individual lifestyles.Number of UnitsUnder ConstructionLocation:Kandivali, MumbaiService:MasterplanningProgram:Mixed-use (Residence, Retail & Office) Client:S D CorporationPlanning Term:2015-2016Co-design:SD Corp In-house Design Studio33SAROVA22 ha634,000 m26,000
