lushly landscaped area around the new building.─Osaka is home ground to Nikken Sekkei, which began as the tentative architectural department of the Sumitomo Zaibatsu, or industrial conglomerate. Its founding offices in 1900 were in the gate house area of the warehouse compound of the former Tokushima domain estate situated on the Dojima riverbank. Nikken Sekkei grew as a company along with the modernization of Japan, but when we look at the projects described above, we can say that it was the city of Osaka that supported our growth. We hope to continue to contribute to the ongoing birth and rebirth of this city.
