Balcony seating adds to the spectacle and ambience of the theater. The acoustics of the hall can be altered by adjusting the sound-reflecting panels to add richness, or by using the stage curtains and soundboards for sound absorption to obtain clarity of the amplified sound. 1「音を観るまち」のランドマーク敷地中央に向かって開かれたのびやかで大きな庇は、穏やかな瀬戸内海を表し、市民が集まり賑わう憩いの場としての顔をつくります。その庇の上に浮かび上がるフライタワーは山の稜線―緑豊かな阿讃山脈の山並みを表し、敷地内の木々と連続した緩やかで優しい印象をつくり出しています。また、市民の感動と興奮を呼び起こす「ちょうさ祭」のドン・デン・ドンの太鼓のリズムを奏でる表現を各所で行いました。Articulating Sound and Location in a Civic LandmarkFacing the center of the site, a large canopy roof, expressive of the gentle waters of the nearby Inland Sea, welcomes visitors into a community space that is equally comfortable for lively community gatherings (allegro) and quiet restful moments (adagio). The rooflines of the fly towers above evoke the ridgeline of the Asan mountains to the south of the city. Tree landscaping softens the lines of the architecture.
