We aim to contribute to the creation of safer and more secure commu-nities by helping to increase the number of buildings with appropriate seismic resistance.─SYNCVR Special ExperienceIn 2018 a ten-day event offered opportu-nities to experience the realistic simulated shaking of an earthquake at the STRACTS exhibition*2 held by Nikken Sekkei’s Structural Design Division. Participants were given a chance to compare experi-ences of different structural systems in two fictitious buildings on a hypothetical site in Roppongi, Tokyo should the predicted Sagami Trough Earthquake hit the south Kanto region. One experience compared a seismic-resistant structure and a structural system using seismic dampers on a 23-story building. The other compared a seismic-re-sistant structure and a structural system using base isolation on a seven-story build-ing. In all, 513 people participated in the experiences, enabling us to collect sweat data and various comments, which will be used to further enhance and improve our services. *1 Jointly developed with Geocreates, Inc. *2 STRACTS = Structure + Act ⊂Connection. The event was held from November 5 to December 21, 2018 in the first floor gallery of the Nikken Sekkei Tokyo BuildingVRゴーグルをかけ、VRと連動して揺れる「地震ザブトン」(白山工業製)に座って体験。 e visitor experience involves putting on VR goggles and sitting on the “earthquake zabuton” (made by Hakusan Corporation), which shakes simultaneously with the scene shown on the screen and a sweat monitor (made by Skinos) attached to the hand measures perspiration.e still photographs below show how for the seismic-resistant building (le), the shaking is so great that the monitor and furniture are overturned and how for the base-isolated building, the shaking is mitigated (right). Measurement results, too, allow the visitor to observe the dierence in level of anxiety they experienced for the two types of structures.耐震建物|Seismic-resistant Building 免震建物|Base-isolated Building発汗計による計測結果|Results of the Sweat Sensor Measurement特別体験会の体験内容と計測結果|VR Experience and Measurement Results1172019 SPRING38PERSPECTIVES
