The commissioning meant a process in which, after detailed study and analysis of the operational performance of the existing building, the client’s conditions were written down in such a manner that the document would provide the basis for renovation design and construction as well as for ongoing operation and management. By these means, the highest-standard equipment available at the time could be installed, and the building ceased to be an “energy intensive” building once and for all. 1 : Exterior view of the building (north elevation).|2: Solar thermal collectors installed to utilize reusable energy. e energy collected is used to preheat the water supplied to the hot water supply system.|3–5: Air-cooled heat pump chiller, high eciency turbo refrigerator, and boiler selected for the project. Based on thorough study and analysis of the existing system, an optimum heat-source system and heat-source capacity were introduced, and the system was converted to a low-carbon energy system. 132019 AUTUMN40Feature | WORKS
