In order to improve sightlines and comfort, we revised the seating layout and widened the seats. Detailed studies, including measuring and confirming sound absorption, were conduct-ed so that the difference in seating between the new and old would not affect the acoustics. The acoustics received high praise after the Vienna Philharmoic orchestra played at the grand opening follow-ing the renovation. Hokuto Cultural Hall (original design: Nikken Sekkei; completed 1983) is the largest culture event hall in Nagano, boasting three auditoriums. In sister partnership with the Viennese Music Association and inviting musi-cians recommended by the association, the hall actively promotes classical music, and is known for excellent acoustics. After the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake, the sus-pended ceiling became a safety concern.ホクト文化ホール（原設計：日建設計／竣工：1983年）は、1,971席、984席、定員300名の、大・中・小ホールをもつ長野県最大の文化会館です。ウィーン楽友協会と姉妹提携協定を結び同協会の推薦する音楽家を招くなど、積極的なクラシック音楽振興によりクラシックホールとしての実績を重ね、ホールの音響にも定評がありました。東日本大震災を機に吊り天井の安全性への認識が高まり、本ホールの天井も、さらなる安心・安全を目指す改修を実施することになりました。222019 AUTUMN40Feature | WORKS
