Photography|エスエス/SSTransforming a Building for Continuous UseEquinix TY11 is the eleventh data center completed by converting an existing warehouse in Tokyo’s Koto Ward. Requirements for a data center building are sufficient struc-tural strength to withstand the floor load, high ceilings, and enormous electrical power capacity. In response to the rap-idly digitalizing society, demand for server space is increas-ing every day. Warehouses are the perfect building type to meet these needs. Where new construction may take two to three years, warehouse conversion makes an attractive alternative, as data center services can begin after only nine months. Once started, a data center will operate non-stop for 30 to 40 years.
