Photography｜Top: エスエス／SS｜Bottom: 鈴木研一／Ken’ichi Suzuki有明体操競技場は、東京2020オリンピック・パラリンピック競技大会の競技会場として整備され、大会後は仮設の客席部分等を撤去し、一部改修したあとに展示場として利用される施設です。最大の特徴は、屋根架構、外装、観客席、外構など建物各所に木材を活用していることです。これはかつて貯木場であった本敷地の記憶を表出したものであり、樹種に応じた強度、熱性能、比重などの特性を考慮しながら、それらを活かした適材適所な木材利用を追求しました。The Ariake Gymnastics Centre was built as a venue for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics. After the games, the building will be converted into an exhibition hall by partially remodeling and removing the spectator stands. Recalling the log pond that once occupied the site, the building features roof trusses, facade, spectator stands, and exterior walls of wood.
