True to the name of the temple̶Torodo (“Lantern Hall”) Jokyoji̶the main building’s sub-lime interior is marked by the flickering of light and shadows cast by 48 lanterns. The hotel’s interior design as well aims to create a still, hushed atmosphere, incorpo-rating only black-and-white furnishings and artwork to convey a sense of both light and dark with a single tone. Parts of the architecture of the old temple adorn various places in the hotel, endowing it with a sense of the passage of time. 京都・寺町通りの浄教寺建て替えにあたり一体開発されたホテルであり、寺院を次世代へ継承させる新たなモデルケースとなるプロジェクトです。鐙籠堂浄教寺という名称の通り、本堂は48基の鐙籠が光と影を織りなす荘厳な空間です。ホテルのインテリアデザインもその静寂な気に包まれるような空間を目指し、内装・家具・アートすべて白黒のワントーンで「明るみ」と「暗やみ」を表現しました。また、浄教寺に使われていた工芸的な建築部品を各所に配し、長い年月が醸し出す陰影で場に奥行きを与えています。NSD272020 WINTER45Annual 2020 | WORKS
