COVID-19 医療現場への緊急支援Emergency Assistance for Medical Facilities Tackling COVID-19木質仮設医療ブース／臨時病棟整備／感染症対応病室／対面式感染症対策給排気フードTemporary-Use Wood-Construction Medical Booths / Establishment of Provisional Hospital Wards /Hospital Rooms for Infectious-Disease Patients / Face-to-Face Use, Infectious-Disease-Control Air Supply and Exhaust Hood1 急増する感染症患者を受け入れる医療用木質ユニットWood-Construction Units to Accommodate Infectious-Disease Patient Surges 足利赤十字病院における木質仮設医療ブーストライアルTrial for Temporary-Use Wood-Construction Medical Booths at the Japanese Red Cross Ashikaga HospitalNikken SekkeiPhotography｜日建設計／Nikken Sekkei簡単に組み立て・解体・移設できる木質ユニット「つな木」を、医療用途に応用する取組みです。ユニットは平時は病院の家具などとして活用し、感染症や災害が発生した非常時には、すばやく組み替えてHEPAフィルターやビニルシートを装着し、安全性の高い病室・診察・処置ブースとなります。先行投資や備蓄スペースの最少化と、非常時のThis project tested the use of Tsunagi wood units, which are easy to assemble, dismantle, and transport, in a medical con-text. These units can be used as ordinary hospital furniture, and during emergencies such as disease outbreaks or natural dis-asters they can be quickly rearranged and fitted with HEPA filters and vinyl sheets to become highly safe patient rooms, exam-ination rooms, and medical treatment booths. We are conducting development research to minimize up-front investment and storage space and enable a swift and economical response to emergencies. On October 27, 2020, we conducted a trial with the units in collaboration with the Japanese Red Cross Ashikaga Hospital in Tochigi Prefecture. Following the trial, the units were reassembled and used for an out-patient fever clinic as well as for cafe booths and benches elsewhere in the hospital.迅速で経済的な対応、日常の豊かな木質空間を実現するツールとして、開発研究を行っています。 2020年10月27日、栃木県の足利赤十字病院と共同で、組み立て・運用のトライアルを行いました。トライアル後、発熱外来での活用の他、一部をカフェブースやベンチに組み替え、病院内で利用されています。新型コロナウイルス感染症患者を受入れた医療施設では、建物の「つくり」が原因で、本来の力を発揮できない、感染防止に必要以上の労力が必要などの事態が生じました。当社設計の多くの病院へ詳細なヒアリングを行い、医療施設には3つの課題があることが明らかとなりました。課題1 急増する感染症患者を受け入れられない課題2 一般医療と感染症医療が両立できない課題3 院内感染防止に建築・設備の備えが不十分これらの課題については、今後の医療施設の設計を通して答えを探り、With/After コロナ時代を見据えた病院を提案していきます。これからは、いざという時も特別な対策は最小限で済み、いつもと変わらず安全に医療を実践できる病院づくりが求められていくのではないでしょうか。 次にご紹介する3つの取組みは、コロナ禍中での喫緊の課題に対して、医療機関への緊急の支援として生み出したものもあり、上記の課題解決の一環でもあります。医療現場の負担を減らし、安全で働きやすい環境づくりに役立ちたいという想いを込めて、さまざまな分野の担当者が協働し知恵を絞っています。Medical facilities accommodating COVID-19 patients have been unable to function optimally owing to their construction, which has made preventing infection more labor-intensive for healthcare providers than necessary. Detailed interviews conducted with numerous Nikken Sekkei-designed hospitals revealed three problems:1. Incapacity to accommodate a patient surge2. Incapacity to balance standard medical care with care for COVID-19 patients3. Building structure and facilities insufficient to prevent hospital-acquired infection.We will seek solutions to these problems through design of medical facilities geared to the COVID-19 era and beyond. We see a need for hos-pital construction that enables healthcare providers to minimize special measures during critical times and provide safe medical care as usual. Here we introduce three initiatives to provide emergency support for medical institutions tackling the COVID-19 crisis and also help to solve the aforementioned problems.
