感染症指定医療機関である当院は、救命救急センターにおいて多くの新型コロナウイルス感染症の重症患者を受け入れたため、通常の救急医療を制限せざるを得ない事態に直面しました。そこで病院敷地内に重症個室14床、中等～重症病床22床の感染症対応臨時病棟の整備をいち早く決定しました。感染症対応を本館と分離することで、通常の高度急性期医療を提供し続け、市民の生命を守る最後の砦としての使命を果たします。This hospital, a designated institution for infectious-disease patients, was forced to reduce regular emergency care to handle the influx of severely ill COVID-19 patients. We rapidly set up a provisional ward adjoining the emergency department, with 14 beds (single patient rooms) to accommodate the severely ill and 22 beds for the moderate to severely ill. With the COVID-19 treatment area separate from the main building, the hospital can contin-ue to provide the usual advanced acute care and carry out its mission.2 感染症医療と高度急性期医療を両立させる臨時病棟Provisional Ward to Enable Both Infectious-Disease Medical Care and Advanced Acute Care神戸市立医療センター中央市民病院 臨時病棟 Kobe City Medical Center General Hospital Provisional WardSince Tokyo Metropolitan Tama Medical Center was completed in 2010, the facility has been equipped with rooms that can be switched to negative pressure, and these have been used to accommodate COVID-19 patients. The door that is inside the wing wall (top left photo) during normal times is used to create an anteroom at the entrance. The cover of the HEPA-filter affixed fan unit is removed, and the room is convert-ed to negative pressure by the increase in exhaust airflow (bottom left photo). The infectious-disease-control air supply and exhaust hood tested at the Japanese Red Cross Ashikaga Hospital (bottom photo) functions as a safe and easy-to-use booth.
