The compact hall most frequently used for citizen activities. Three State-of-the-Art Multipurpose Halls with All-Brick InteriorsThe all-brick, sound-reflecting interior of the three-tiered, 2,010-seat grand hall has acoustic panel running along its walls to better distribute early reflected sound to the audience and the stage. The anti-vibration and sound-absorbing struc-ture ensures that the floor, ceiling, and walls are insulated from the structural frame, enabling a high degree of sound-proofing that makes the hall suitable for musical concerts in addition to various other events. The spherical bead-filled downlights on the ceiling create the illusion of stars sparkling in the night sky. Lights with three different degrees of color temperature and three different sizes—a total of nine different types in all—are scattered across the ceiling to recreate the starry sky of October, when Himeji Castle, a UNESCO World 大ホール断面図|Grand hall section, scale 1:800Heritage Site, was completed in 1609. The medium hall is a multipurpose venue especially suitable for theatrical performances. Its fan-shaped seating arrangement allows for easy viewing of the stage and is designed to immerse audience members in the performances. The interior brick walls are twisted in three dimensions to intensify reflected sound, creating a uniform acoustic environment across the seats. The small hall, which also has anti-vibration and soundproofing construction, is frequently used by local citizens, particularly for events such as small concerts. Each of its four walls leans outward by five degrees for better sound intensification. We hope local citizens will embrace this building, and that its distinct small, medium and grand halls will help it fulfill its role as a hub for cultural events from all over the world.
