Designed to become a future cultural asset, it employs traditional wooden archi-tecture techniques. In 2009, the building was relocated to the city of Hirakata, where it functions today as a training facility dedicated to the philosophy of the founder. Nikken Sekkei has been involved in efforts to preserve the build-ing since 2017.S=1:35,000 |500m16歴史的建造物の長寿命化歴史的建造物が良い状態を維持していくためには、計画的な維持保全が必要です。私たちは毎年の調査を行い、緊急度の高いものを選定して維持保全をサポートするとともに、現代建物における長寿命化計画を歴史的建造物に応用して、50年先までの中長期計画を立案しました。　2018年は大阪北部地震をはじめ、台風などの災害が建物を襲いましたが、毎年の建物調査記録により、被災による被害なのか、劣化によるものなのかを明確に区別できたことは地震保険適用時の意外なメリットでした。日本を代表する実業家の創業の精神は、広く共有でき、また将来に伝えたいものでした。Extending the Life of a Historic Building Systematic maintenance is required to preserve historic build-ings in good condition. We survey the building annually to determine which parts most urgently need attention and conduct the requisite maintenance. We also have a long-range plan that covers operations over a 50-year period—a schedule normally applied in life-extension projects for modern build-ings. In 2018, the building suffered earthquake and typhoon damage, but records from our annual building survey allowed us to clearly distinguish between damage caused by these events and problems resulting from deterioration—which turned out to have the unexpected benefit of facilitating the approval of earthquake insurance coverage.
