1 : 全景。2 : ルーフファサードのライティング。1 : Aerial view.2 : Nighttime illumination of the roof facade.Phoogaphy｜1：日建設計／Nikken Sekke｜2：Mchel van ijktriiiD227シンプルな幾何学的構成による高層棟と低層棟の対比的造形直角三角形の平面をもつ高層棟と、若干幅の狭い扇型平面の低層棟を背中合わせに配置した幾何学的な平面構成に対して、斜めに切り取られた高層棟の頂部と緩やかな勾配屋根の低層棟が生み出すダイナミックな立面構成が、この建物の最大の特徴となっています。猛禽類のくちばしを想わせる高層棟頂部がクリーク（天然の小運河）を見下ろす姿は、ドバイの旧市街・デイラ地区を代表するスカイラインとして長く人々の記憶に刻まれてきました。外装はクリークを想わせる碧みがかった複層ガラスと、日本製の純白の磁器タイルによる対比的かつシンプルな構成によって、その幾何学的構成をより強調することを意図しました。高層棟の頂部には役員階を含む事務所機能を、低層棟には地上階に展示場、その上にはオーディトリウムを配置し、機能と形態とが互いに呼応する極めて純粋かつシンプルな構成となっています。なお、2009年にはLEED-EBOM（既存ビル版LEED認証）のプラチナ認証を取得しました。Contrasts in Elevation through Simple Geometric StructuresThe building’s defining feature is the dynamic verticality of the elevation—a result of the geometric configuration formed by the diagonally cut top of the high-rise portion, the gently sloping roof of the podium, and the somewhat narrower fold-ing-fan-shaped plane of the low-rise portion. The top of the high-rise tower, reminiscent of the beak of a falcon looking down to the creek far below, has become a landmark in the skyline of Deira, Dubai’s historic old town. The building’s exterior was designed to emphasize the geometric composi-tion through a contrasting yet simple arrangement of double- glazed glass panels—whose bluish tinge evokes the creek itself—and pure-white, made-in-Japan porcelain tiles. The office facilities and executive floor are located at the top of the high-rise portion, while an exhibition space is located on the ground floor of the podium, with an auditorium above it—an exceedingly simple, straightforward composition in which form and function exist in harmony. In 2009, the building was LEED-EBOM certified (LEED certification for existing buildings) at the Platinum level.
