Irregularities on each floor were integrated into the design, with an open seam equipped to serve as an emergency fire-rescue entrance.Adapting to Complex Environmental Factors in Dense Urban Areas The floor plan of Jimbocho SF1 features private office space, common areas, and an external staircase facing the main street. The street-facing spaces are covered with the newly developed Envi-lope 01 facade, which controls the entry of sunlight and visibility and secures pleasant and comfortable stairwell spaces. Computational design is used to analyze how sunlight enters the building, taking into account the shadows cast by surrounding buildings on exterior walls and windows. As the facade is supported by wires, it accommodates various con-figurations, including the R-shaped staircase and emergency fire-rescue entrance. The exterior, created out of the search for a rational solu-tion, imbues the dense streets with new light, shadow, and textures. Providing an “alternative to louvers with a new method and aesthetic,” it is distinctive when viewed from close up and blends in with the town when viewed from afar.12314密集市街地の複雑な周辺環境を調整する「神保町SF1」では、整形なオフィス専有部を確保し、共用部と外部階段が大通りに面する平面構成となっています。そこで、新規開発した外装システム「Envi-lope01」で大通りに面した共用空間を覆い、日射や向かいの建物との見合いを制御しつつ心地よい階段空間をつくりました。　コンピュテーショナルデザインによって周りの建物が外壁や窓に落とす影を考慮しながら日射の入り方を丁寧に読み解きつつ、外装はワイヤーで支持しているためさまざまな形に対応でき、階段のR形状や消防用の非常用進入口も一体にデザインしています。　合理性を追求して生み出されたこの外装は、近くから見ると特徴的で、遠くから見るとまちに溶け込む「新しい方法と美観をもったルーバーのオルタナティブ」として、密集市街地での新しい光・影・風景をつくり出しています。
