The plan included aligning the facade with that of the adjacent prefectural police headquarters (designed by Nikken Sekkei; completed in 2006) to make the administrative, assembly, and police buildings easier to distinguish from the main thoroughfares. The podium and observation floors are open to the public, and both the interior and exterior design make rich use of tile, washi paper, wood, and other products of Gifu Prefecture. Visitors to any part of the building are treated to an uninterrupted display of Gifu’s bounty and attractions as they proceed to their destination.岐阜県庁舎 Gifu Prefectural Office06旧庁舎（設計：日建設計工務／竣工：1966年）の老朽化、狭隘化などに伴う敷地内での建替え計画です。隣接する県警本部庁舎（設計：日建設計／竣工：2006年）とファサードラインを揃え、主要幹線道路から行政・議会・警察の独立した視認性を高める計画としています。低層部と展望フロアは県民に開かれ、内外にタイル・和紙・木をはじめ、県産材・県産品をふんだんに用いました。目的地へのアプローチが、途切れることなく続く「清流の国ぎふ」のショーウインドーとなっています。「清流の国ぎふ」の象徴としての庁舎Government Office Building Symbolizing Gifu’s Rich Natural Environment and Traditions
