In keeping with the university's develop-ment policy of working together with city officials and local residents to create public spaces and facilities, the piloti space and cafeteria are made open to the public and integrated with city-owned land, without regard to site boundaries. The space was designed so that the town itself merges with the campus, embodying of the university’s motto, “live locally, grow globally.”S=1:5,000 |500m014過去と現在をつむぎあうキャンパス建物は駅からまっすぐ延びるプロムナードの正面という、まちの顔となるべき立地にあります。かつて繊維のまちとして栄えた箕面船場の「織り」と、大学のスローガン「想い つなげる つむぎあう」を手がかりにデザインした外観は、地震力の大きさにより「耐震」と「制振」が切り替わるハイブリッド構造システムでもあります。外壁の外側に耐震要素を集約することで、室内に構造壁を設置する必要がなくなり、大小さまざまな400室ほどの必要諸室を自由に配置することが可能になりました。5・6階には自習や共同学習の場として、2層連続する変化のある学生交流スペースをつくりました。また、旧キャンパスの伝統行事として地域住民と行われていた夏祭りができる空間（ピロティ、デッキ広場）をつくり、旧キャンパスの伝統と思いを受け継いでいます。A Campus Where Past and Present Are Woven TogetherThe building stands in front of the promenade running out from the station, well-positioned as the face of the commu-nity. The building’s exterior design was based on a “weaving” motif—Minoh Senba once flourished as a textile-producing district—as well as on the university's slogan, which could be expressed as “aspirations, connected and woven together.” The exterior is a hybrid structural system that performs either seismic resistance or vibration control depending on the seis-mic intensity of a quake. By concentrating the earthquake- resistant components around the building’s perimeter, we eliminated the need for interior structural walls, allowing for free arrangement of the roughly 400 rooms of varying sizes. On the fifth and sixth floors, two entire levels of diverse spac-es for student interaction create an atmosphere appropriate for both self-study and collaborative learning.
