A Tower Driving Urban Growth and Business Growth Nikken Sekkei was selected via an international compe-tition to design the XuHui Riverside 188S-G-1 Area New Construction Project in the southwest district of the develop-ment. The design expresses a range of forms to reflect busi-nesses that flourish by encouraging interconnected experienc-es through the use of advanced ICT technology, with gentle yet dynamic forms created through environmental analysis. To portray the tower as a source of both business and urban growth, the architectural composition and exterior details evoke both an engine and a living creature. The design seam-lessly connects the underground mall, landscape, podium, and tower, guiding pedestrians from the subway exit to the second floor aboveground. The public deck space between the tower and podium is directly connected to the adjacent city block and integrates the “urban cores” that rise up from the basement levels with the architecture. The proposal took into account the entire district plan, from the layout, exteriors, 1210まちと企業の成長エンジンとなるタワー南西街区の「徐匯濱江188S-G-1ブロック新築プロジェクト」は、国際コンペでデザインを競い、日建設計が選定されました。先端のICT技術でさまざまな体験をつなぎ感動を創造する成長企業のイメージを、環境解析による形態表現を駆使して柔らかく、躍動感のある形状に具現化しました。本タワーが、まち・企業の成長の源になるよう、建築構成や外装ディテールを工夫して、エンジン・生命体のイメージを重ねています。地下鉄出口から地上を経て2階まで歩行者を導き、地下街とランドスケープ、低層棟、タワーまでの建築全体が“なめらかにつながる”デザインです。タワーと低層棟の間のデッキは、そのまま隣接街区につながる公共空間で、地下から貫くアーバンコアを建築と一体化しています。建築の配置・外観・ワークプレイス・ディテールまで一貫して全体街区計画との関係を見据えた提案により、街区南角の門となる敷地のポテンシャルを最大限に引き出し、まちと融合した強いランドマーク性を創出しています。
