While it generally serves as a place for relaxation, it is also a versatile landmark that can host large-scale events like musical concerts and film festivals.The stepped slope facing the development’s busy east-west axis, along with a bridge connecting the north and south areas, encourages a lively three-dimensional interplay in which people can see and be seen. In the future, the plaza could accommodate various street-type events.A venue for various activities̶strolling, resting in the shade of trees, environmental education for children, outdoor programs̶tailored to change with the seasons. With symbolic landscape features including stone walls and waterfalls, the grove offers an urban oasis to enjoy nature and even encounter a variety of wildlife.Elevation Changes Create Diverse Gathering Places and Three “Cores”Embankments were created to gently introduce elevation changes between and within the north and south parts of the development. The variations in elevation not only integrate the site as a whole but also establish three principal “cores” in the park’s layout. These include the Great Lawn, which is the South Park’s multipurpose space facing onto JR Osaka Station; the Step Plaza, which merges with the street that accommodates both pedestrian and vehicle traffic crossing between the north and south areas; and the North Park’s multifunctional natural space, Umekita Grove, which connects to the Shin Satoyama green area and Naka Shizen-no-Mori Park at Shin Umeda City. These “cores” are designed to transcend the boundaries separating roads, park-land, private land, and the surrounding neighborhoods, thereby enhancing the allure of the entire area, including that beyond the site itself.ランドフォームにより生み出される多様な居場所・3つのコア南北街区をまたいで地形にゆるやかな高低を与えるランドフォームによって周辺を含めた空間を一体化するとともに、公園の名所となる3つの主要空間「コア（核）」を創出しました。JR大阪駅に対して開かれたサウスパークの多目的な空間「芝生広場」、南北街区を横切る歩車道と一体となった空間「ステッププラザ」、新梅田シティの新・里山や中自然の森とつながるノースパークの多自然型空間「うめきたの森」です。これらのコアを道路、公園、民地、さらには周辺のまちの間に存在する「境界」を越えてデザインすることで、敷地周辺も含めたエリア全体の魅力を高めることを意識しました。芝生広場と一体となった水盤と、ゆるやかな斜面が屋外劇場として機能する多目的な広場。 日常的な憩いの場である一方、音楽コンサートや映画祭などの大規模な劇場型イベントにも対応できるマルチな名所。賑わい軸（東西軸）に向かうステップ状の斜面と南北街区をつなぐ橋が、見る・見られるの立体的な関係性を生み出し、将来的にはさまざまなストリート型イベントに対応できる階段状広場。散策や木陰での休息、子どもの環境学習や野外活動など、季節ごとのニーズに合わせたさまざまアクティビティの舞台。 石垣や滝による象徴的な風景、さまざまな生き物との遭遇が見どころとなる、自然を楽しむ都市のオアシス。
