The Main Building is in the foreground, the West Building to the left, the North Building behind the Main Building, and the Annex Building farther back.本庁舎執務室は約7mの奥行で、竣工当時の建築プランを活かして、自然通風と自然採光が室奥まで届きやすい計画とした。The design utilizes the 7-meter depth of the original office layout to promote natural ventilation and lighting.Main Building: Using Traditional Passive Design to Incorporate Natural Light and VentilationThe existing Main Building was retrofitted with a seismic base isolation system, thereby allowing the original structure to be reused and reducing embodied carbon from construction. At the same time, the building’s original architectural layout was leveraged to minimize operational carbon through environmental design strategies. The design sought to incor-porate traditional passive techniques, such as the adoption of a shallow floor plan to maximize daylight and promote natural ventilation. Additional measures included improving insulation and upgrading window sashes to enhance airtight-ness. Altogether, the building exemplifies a decarbonization approach with architectural passive design at its core.Site plan showing each building.
