This included supporting the launch of the decarbonization promotion councils for both airports and working closely with relevant operators to develop comprehensive plans. In 2023, these plans became the first to be officially certified by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, paving the way for airport decarbonization nationwide. Realizing truly attractive and sustainable airports requires more than just decarbonizing the facilities themselves; it calls for cross-sectoral proposals that connect the airports to their surrounding communities, as well as support systems devised to ensure passenger comfort and safety. Domestically, amendments to the Civil Aeronautics Act and related legislation now require airports to develop a master plan, known as the Airport Decarbonization Promotion Plan, and to obtain government certification.
