the construction industry faces the pressing challenge of creating systems to reduce both the resources it consumes and the waste it discards. To address this, we launched the Circular Design Collective, a platform for researching and sharing knowledge on the people, materials, and processes involved in circular design—the design methodology for realizing cyclical or recyclable/renewable architecture. Our mission is to elimi-nate the very concept of waste in the construction industry. As a first step, we have developed the Circular Idea Catalog, a col-lection of practical ideas, resources, and real-world examples for engaging with and applying circular design. The catalog is intended to serve as a platform for accumulating and openly sharing know-how on approaches to the healthy circulation of resources.─Toward Healthy Competitive Creation: Making Circular Design the Industry NormThe resource circulation process involves a wide range of stakeholders; therefore, we believe it is essential to first create an environment in which circular design through co-creation rather than competition within the industry becomes the default practice. the construction industry faces the pressing challenge of creating systems to reduce both the resources it consumes and the waste it discards. To address this, we launched the Circular Design Collective, a platform for researching and sharing knowledge on the people, materials, and processes involved in circular design—the design methodology for realizing cyclical or recyclable/renewable architecture. Our mission is to elimi-nate the very concept of waste in the construction industry. As a first step, we have developed the Circular Idea Catalog, a col-lection of practical ideas, resources, and real-world examples for engaging with and applying circular design. The catalog is intended to serve as a platform for accumulating and openly sharing know-how on approaches to the healthy circulation of resources.─Toward Healthy Competitive Creation: Making Circular Design the Industry NormThe resource circulation process involves a wide range of stakeholders; therefore, we believe it is essential to first create an environment in which circular design through co-creation rather than competition within the industry becomes the default practice. In 2024, we released the “Circular Idea Catalog” internally, which we are now updating in collabora-tion with seven like-minded companies in the architecture and interior design fields. With the catalog as a tool, we are working to cultivate a community of professionals and establish circular design as standard practice in these fields. the construction industry faces the pressing challenge of creating systems to reduce both the resources it consumes and the waste it discards. To address this, we launched the Circular Design Collective, a platform for researching and sharing knowledge on the people, materials, and processes involved in circular design—the design methodology for realizing cyclical or recyclable/renewable architecture. Our mission is to elimi-nate the very concept of waste in the construction industry. As a first step, we have developed the Circular Idea Catalog, a col-lection of practical ideas, resources, and real-world examples for engaging with and applying circular design. The catalog is intended to serve as a platform for accumulating and openly sharing know-how on approaches to the healthy circulation of resources.─Toward Healthy Competitive Creation: Making Circular Design the Industry NormThe resource circulation process involves a wide range of stakeholders; therefore, we believe it is essential to first create an environment in which circular design through co-creation rather than competition within the industry becomes the default practice. In 2024, we released the “Circular Idea Catalog” internally, which we are now updating in collabora-tion with seven like-minded companies in the architecture and interior design fields. In a 2023–2024 underground utility data was integrated into a 3D city l to create a system to support stakeholder communi- and infrastructure management. In demonstration , developers, infrastructure operators, and designers ienced the system firsthand and praised its potential rveying underground utilities and negotiating reloca-lans.
