Additionally, we have established various training and education systems to create an environment where professionals can maximize their potential. We also foster a culture of mutual respect for diversity and work to promote understanding of human rights in business.Nikken Sekkei’s Efforts to Promote DE&I and Future ProspectsRestrooms focused on “how they are used” rather than “who use them”.“The most interesting structural design in the world”: a book that conveys the fascination of structural engineering. We have created a book entitled “The most interesting structural design in the world” to convey the fascination of structural engineering. While university courses teach knowledge and calculations, they do not convey the excitement of working in struc-tural design. This book introduces the design process rather than a mere overview of completed buildings. The book delves into the work of structural engineers from various perspectives, ex-ploring the minds of different structural designers, discovering the excitement from projects, and understanding the fascination from technical aspects.https://www.nikken.jp/ja/news/press_release/2024_11_26.html?cat=ALL&archive=ALLEvent for the creation of a robot-friendly environment.Contribution to Social IssuesIn 2024, under strong commitment from the management team, Nikken Sekkei declared its promotion of DE&I (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion). We aim to foster a culture and awareness that respects diverse values, experiences, talents, and lifestyles, and to create an environment where all employees can maximize their potential. Firstly, we have identified the promotion of women’s participation as a key issue, con-ducting assessments and identifying challenges. We have begun considering qualitative activity plans and the ratio of female managers. Additionally, we have established a reward system for employees who support those taking childcare and nursing care leave. From 2025, we will set up a DE&I Promotion Office to further accelerate our actions. https://www.nikken.jp/ja/dei.htmlWe have renovated the existing gender-specific restrooms into individual cubicles that can be used by anyone. Focusing on “how the restroom is used” rather than “who uses it,” we have set three themes (Relax, Refresh, Styling) for each cubicle. Each cubicle is based on white mosaic tiles, with variations in lighting color tempera-ture and grout color to create an atmosphere corresponding to each theme. We have planned features such as digital signage indicating occupancy, a layout that minimizes encounters, sound-absorbing ceilings, soundproof doors, and different ambient sounds and scents for each room, aiming to create a new type of restroom that anyone can use comfortably and without hesitation.https://www.nikken.jp/ja/news/awards/2024_10_16.html“Robot Event 2024: Service Robots and Future Cities” was held on May 23, 2024. Here, the importance of architectural and urban space development for the prolifera-tion of service robots was discussed.Against the backdrop of a declining labor force and the expanding robot market, there is a growing demand for robot-friendly environments. At the event, opinions were exchanged on topics such as the collaboration between robots and facilities/equipment, standardization, development of social infrastructure, and social acceptance.https://note.com/nikken/n/n849993f05ea8都市人事労務WEI設計経営企画広報異なる部門からメンバーが参画し、多様性を活かした迅速な推進体制を構築トイレで行われるアクティビティDE&I推進室RELAXREFRESHSTYLINGDE&IGovernanceSH-EngagementDE&ISH-EngagementSH-EngagementLaborSH-EngagementHuman Rights
