Japan's Southernmost Airport: Indigenous Flavor, Zero Energy
"From the airport, the resort begins.“ This airport terminal was the first in Japan to receive ZEB (zero energy building)-ready certification. It incorporates traditional Okinawan architecture, and sets comfort indexes rooted in a concept akin to human body temperature. The lounge wing is composed of cross laminated timber (CLT) flat slabs, and the space reflects a rich, beam-free expression. The check-in building features a hipped roof with laminated wood beams between and CLTs in the girder direction.
