After completing the Ph.D. program in Engineering at Kyushu Sangyo University in 2003, I joined Nikken Sekkei.Throughout my more than a decade of work at Nikken Sekkei, I was most impressed by three things: 1) Nikken Sekkei’s impartiality and comprehensive design capabilities, 2) its inclusive, international design team, and 3) the design philosophy of constantly striving for improvement.
Currently, China is undergoing painful reforms—reforms that require sacrificing its own interests—and faces many challenges that must be resolved, such as anti-corruption and political integrity, real estate market control, and new forms of urbanization.The development and construction of China’s cities require feasible and innovative development strategies and technical approaches. Riding the new wave of transformative development, I hope to contribute, in my own small way, to China’s urban development as a frontline urban planning expert, transcending national borders and adopting a global perspective.
