NIKKEN SEKKEI Shenzhen, established in 2022 as the firm’s fifth office in China, is primarily responsible for urban design projects in Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area. In the Greater Bay Area, which has been undergoing rapid development in recent years, we are leading the way in urban renewal and transit-oriented development (TOD). Carrying forward Nikken Sekkei’s philosophy and continuously honing our skills, we are committed to meeting the expectations of our clients and society.

Nikken Sekkei Shenzhen is a team of professionals leading urban design and “Transit-Oriented Development (TOD)” in Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area. We are passionate about building next-generation transit-oriented cities by seamlessly integrating urban planning with transportation planning.

To date, we have been deeply involved in large-scale projects that serve as regional hubs, such as Guangzhou Baiyun Station and Shenzhen Xili Station, contributing to the high-quality development of these cities. In this rapidly changing region, our mission is to realize a better social environment by swiftly responding to local needs while leveraging the advanced expertise cultivated by Nikken Sekkei.

Moving forward, we will continue to build strong relationships of trust with our clients and society, and through a design approach that integrates diverse areas of expertise, we will contribute to the creation of sustainable and attractive future cities in the Greater Bay Area.

PROJECTS

Xili Transportation Hub

Shenzhen, China

This project involves the urban design and architectural planning of Shenzhen, China's largest integrated transportation hub. A distinctive ribbon-shaped rooftop garden at the station seamlessly connects the city, while diverse transportation and urban functions are integrated three-dimensionally beneath the roof. In addition to convenient transfers and reduced environmental impact, the project aims to create attractive public spaces that draw people in, while also striving for a resilient TOD (Transportation-Oriented Development) that harmonizes with the local nature and ecosystem. Progress is steadily being made towards the target completion date of 2027.
