Shoichi Kanno

After completing his master’s degree at Hokkaido University, he joined Nikken Sekkei in 1980. He was primarily responsible for regional development planning, urban planning, urban development projects, and urban design.In 2006, he served as President of Hokkaido Nikken Sekkei (President and CEO). He became Representative of the Corporate Group (Corporate Planning) at Nikken Sekkei in 2014, a Director (Audit and Supervisory Committee Member) in 2019, and assumed his current position in 2025.Notable projects include overseeing the Taito Ward Urban Master Plan—the first of its kind in Tokyo—and the Osaki Station West Exit District Special Urban Regeneration District. He also participated in the Hokkaido University Architecture and Urban Studio project, which won the JIA Environmental Architecture Award, and the Wakkanai Station Area Urban Redevelopment Project (Kitakara), which received the Planning and Design Award from the Japanese Institute of Urban Planning.
