Nikken Sekkei President and CEO Tadao Kamei Receives the “Innovation and Technology Keicho Award” in Spain

Tadao Kamei, Representative Director of Nikken Sekkei Ltd. (President and CEO), has been awarded the “Keicho Prize for Innovation & Technology” by the Japan-Spain Business Circle (CEJE)—an organization that serves as a platform for promoting economic andbusiness, and cultural exchanges between Japan and Spain, and was honored at the first CEJE event party held on October 25, 2016, at the National Art Museum of Catalonia in Barcelona.

●Background of the Award
Nikken Sekkei, in partnership with the local architectural firm Pascal-Audio Arquitectes, participated in an international design competition for the renovation of “Camp Nou,” the home stadium of the Barcelona-based global soccer club FC Barcelona, and was selected as the designer on March 8 of this year.
In receiving this award, the innovative efforts that led to the creation of a design proposal—described by the jury of the New Camp Nou Competition as “open, elegant, serene, timeless, Mediterranean, and democratic”—were recognized as a significant achievement.
Along with Kamei, the award was also presented to Carme Ruscadia, the female chef at “San Pau,” a Spanish restaurant at Coredo Nihonbashi that holds three Michelin stars.

This award, presented at the first CEJE event party, was named the "Keicho Innovation & Technology Award" in honor of the Keicho Embassy to Europe, which first traveled from Japan to Spain 400 years ago.
