Museum Tower Kyobashi

This award recognized, among other things, the project’s achievement in meeting the new challenge of ventilating a high-rise building by utilizing the effects of naturally occurring wind. The hybrid ventilation system adopted in this building is expected to reduce the energy required for air conditioning, particularly during seasons when the outside air temperature ranges from 15°C to 26°C.According to standard meteorological data, it is estimated that ventilation driven by external wind pressure can be achieved during approximately 30% of the air-conditioning system’s projected annual operating hours (4,745 hours); furthermore, even during periods of light wind, gravity ventilation is expected to add an additional 3% to the effective operating time.Including other energy-saving technologies, this building is capable of achieving energy savings of more than 30% compared to a standard building of the same size and use.

In addition, eight projects by Nikken Sekkei were nominated for Excellence Awards in the following categories.

Best High-Rise Building Award (100–199 meters): Museum Tower Kyobashi *1
MEP Engineering Award: DaiyaGate Ikebukuro *2, Museum Tower Kyobashi *3
