Sales Begin for the Second Edition of the “Tsunagi-ki” Kit: “Anywhere Tsunagi-ki Kit”

Planned and produced by Nikkensetsu Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo; President and CEO: Atsushi Omatsu), and manufactured and sold by Sanshin Metal Industries Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinhama, Tadaoka-cho, Senboku District, Osaka Prefecture; President and CEO: Hiromasa Arai), will release the “Anywhere Tsunagi Kit” on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, as the second installment in the “Tsunagi”*1 series of wooden units.

“Tsunagi” is a wooden unit made from small-diameter lumber that can be easily assembled, disassembled, and relocated.The basic unit—comprising 45mm-square solid wood*2 commonly available in stores, connecting pieces called “clamps,” and wheels for mobility—can be easily assembled by “anyone, anywhere in Japan” in about 30 minutes.Using the same components, it can be transformed into a variety of shapes—such as desks, shelves, benches, and planters—and utilized for a wide range of purposes.

The Nikken Wood Lab—a team at Nikken Sekkei dedicated to research and development in wood quality and timber construction—developed this product with the aim of promoting the effective use of wood, which is essential for forest conservation in Japan, and Sanshin Metal Industries has brought it to market.Through various trial events, development and refinement have progressed, leading to the current manufacture and sale of the “Anywhere Tsuna-ki Kit.”

"Tsunagi"*1 allows you to build spaces for any purpose and in any size using wood and specialized clamps.Since there is no complicated processing or heavy lifting involved, it’s easy to assemble. You can create the space you need with your own hands—not only for everyday life but also for special events and emergencies.
In July 2021, we launched the first Tsunagi kit: the “Moshi-mo Tsunagi Kit,” which can be used as furniture or café booths on a daily basis but can be reconfigured into medical or shelter spaces in case of an emergency.

The second installment, the “Anywhere Tsuna-ki Kit,” allows you to create small, 1-tatami-mat-sized spaces, such as meeting booths or pop-up shops. By combining multiple units, you can create flexible spaces perfectly suited to your needs and location, expanding the range of versatile, phase-free uses—from work and play to emergencies.
Unlike the “Just in Case Tsunagi Kit,” the “Anywhere Tsunagi Kit” is based on small units of about one tatami mat in size. By connecting or separating multiple units, as well as removing or changing the color of the seat covers, you can create flexible spaces anytime, anywhere.
