PRESS RELEASE
2022.09.28

Tokyu Land Corporation (Head Office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President President and CEO: Masashi Okada; hereinafter "Tokyu Real Estate"), Tokyu Community Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; President President and CEO: Shohei Kimura, hereinafter "Tokyu Community"), SoftBank Corp. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO Executive Officer and CEO: Junichi Miyagawa; hereinafter referred to as " SoftBank" and Nikken Sekkei Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: President and CEO: Atsushi Omatsu; hereinafter "Nikken Sekkei") are pleased to announce that their joint research and development project (hereinafter referred to as "this project") by the four companies has been selected for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's subsidized project "FY2022 Innovative Robot R&D Infrastructure Construction Project." Following this selection, the four companies will begin research and development aimed at creating robot-friendly (hereafter "Robofre") environments that enable smooth robot operation within facilities.

Recently, expectations for the use of service robots have been rising, especially to address the severe labor shortages in a declining birthrate and aging society. In particular, the spread of service robots within facilities requires realizing a more affordable Robofure environment where humans and robots can coexist safely, comfortably, and efficiently. In this project, we will evaluate the physical environment using Robofre level indicators for the Tokyo Port City Takeshiba Office Tower, managed and operated by Tokyu Fudosan Corporation, and then demonstrate the use of cleaning, security, and delivery robots on commercial floors and office common areas. By organizing operational challenges of robots within facilities and proposing and analyzing not only the facility and robot side but also the human side's responses, we aim to develop methods to rationally realize Robofre operations based on the facility's situation, presenting solutions from each perspective.
