Speaker Profile

Takaaki Umezawa (A.T. Kearney Japan, Chairman)
Graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Tokyo; holds an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Has provided consulting services in the areas of strategy, marketing, and organizational management in Japan and the U.S. for 20 years.
He is a commentator on TV Tokyo’s “World Business Satellite.” He serves as a member of the Cabinet Secretariat’s “Cool Japan Strategy Promotion Council,” the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee’s “Technology Advisory Committee,” and the Cabinet Office “Tax System Research Committee,” among others. Through the “NeXTOKYO Project,” he has proposed a vision for Tokyo’s future and a special economic zone concept to the government and industry.

Sputniko! (Assistant Professor, Massachusetts Institute of Technology)
After graduating from Imperial College London with degrees in Mathematics and Information Engineering, she completed a master’s degree in Design Interactions at the Royal College of Art (RCA) in the UK. Since her student days, she has been creating video installations that reflect how human existence and society are transformed by technology. She assumed her current position in 2013 and launched the Design Fiction Group. She was named VOGUE JAPAN Woman of the Year 2013. In 2014, she was selected by FORBES JAPAN as one of the “10 Japanese Women Shaping the Future.”
