A transformation known as “Industry 4.0”—which leverages the Internet of Things (IoT) to connect all kinds of objects and values, thereby fostering new forms of creation—is gaining momentum, particularly in the manufacturing sectors of Europe and the United States, and has become a trend that Japan cannot afford to ignore.At this NSRI Forum, we are pleased to welcome Mr. Satoshi Nagashima, an expert on “Industry 4.0,” who will explain its essence. Furthermore, we will discuss its impact not only on the manufacturing sector but also on cities, architecture, and work styles. (Facilitator: Ko Itokimi)

Instructor Profile
Satoshi Nagashima Mr.
Roland Berger, Representative Director President and CEO, Ph.D. in Engineering.
Waseda University After completing the doctoral program at the Graduate School of Science and Engineering, he served as a research assistant in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Waseda University and joined Roland Berger.
Focusing primarily on the manufacturing sectors—including automotive, petroleum, chemicals, energy, and consumer goods—he has led numerous projects covering grand strategy, business roadmaps, change management, and the digital transformation of frontline operations. In recent years, in particular, he has focused on customer-centric value creation and has been engaged in activities aimed at enhancing the competitiveness and presence of Japanese companies.
He has given numerous lectures and authored many articles on the automotive industry, Industry 4.0, and the Internet of Things (IoT). His most recent book is *Japanese-Style Industry 4.0* (Nikkei Publishing).
